--As of right now, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is #1 in its second weekend. However, it did not hold well at all. Down 70% to $6.4 million, the anime hit has pulled in $34.1 million domestically in 10 days. While not great news, its' still more money made in two weeks than most during the pandemic era. Need I add that the film has earned $430 million worldwide thanks mostly to Japan.
--That places Mortal Kombat in second, plunging 73% in its sophomore frame to $6.2 million, for an identical $34.1 million pick-up in 10 days. While not totally unexpected given the genre and its HBOMax availability, its' still a pretty strong drop. The film will have to hold itself together in the coming weeks if it wants to get above $50 million domestically. It's also at $67 million worldwide.
--Godzilla VS. Kong stabilized in its fifth frame, off 36% to $2.7 million, for a $90.3 million gross in one month of release. The titans film will hope that three more weekends free of competition will be enough to possibly squeeze past the century mark.
--Opening in fourth place, horror flick Separation only managed $1.8 million (weak $1,045 per-venue average). That's just a little over half of The Unholy's $3.6 million start back at the beginning of April.
--Raya and the Last Dragon continued to show some nice legs, down just 23% in its ninth weekend to $1.3 million. Disney's latest animated flick has earned $41.6 million, or nearly five times its' $8.5 million opening weekend.
Here's what's going on in the rest of the Top 10:
-Nobody was off 28% to $1.3 million, for a solid $23.4 million gross in six weeks.
-The Unholy was off 27% to $1.1 million, for a decent $13.1 million gross in one month.
-A 10th-anniversary re-release of the cult classic Scott Pilgrim VS. The World earned a surprisingly good $720,000 from 152 locations (weekend-best $4,736 average per-theater).
-Tom and Jerry was down 29% in its 10th weekend in the Top 10 to $515,000. It's earned $44.2 million in 70 days.
-Together Together was down 41% in its sophomore frame to $313,000, for a $1 million 10-day gross.
