-Godzilla VS. Kong remained firmly in first place, though it did drop 58% to $13.4 million in its' sophomore frame. In 12 days, the CGI monster fest has earned $69.5 million. While 58% is a heavy drop, it's not out of the ordinary for the genre (fellow MonsterVerse movies fell 55-60% apiece on their second weekends in pre-pandemic times). The film will easily remain #1 for one more weekend before fellow Warner Bros. movie Mortal Kombat opens. How it holds next week will determine whether or not it will hit $100 million stateside. Worldwide, it continues to play strong with $358 million (including over $160 million in China), in line with Tenet's worldwide box office gross from last Fall.
-Nobody moved up to second, and held strongly in its third frame. Off 12% to $2.65 million, the Bob Odenkirk flick has earned $15.6 million in 17 days as it prepares to hit VOD on Friday. Even so, the box office continues to be above-average for pandemic times.
-The Unholy held solidly in its' sophomore frame, off 24% to $2.4 million. The horror flick is at $6.7 million in 10 days, and could reach Come Play's $11 million final gross by the time its' finished.
-Raya and the Last Dragon played well, and actually increased 5% to $2.15 million, for a $35.2 million pick-up in six weeks of release. Disney Animation's latest seems to be finding its' Croods legs.
-Opening in fifth place with poor results was Lionsgate's Voyagers. The teen-aimed flick earned $1.35 million from just under 2,000 locations (mediocre $685 per-venue average). A limited marketing effort didn't help, as the long-delayed sci-fi flick opened to a third of Chaos Walking's $3.8 million debut from last month.
Here's what's going on in the rest of the Top 10:
-Tom and Jerry was off 21% in its seventh weekend to $1.1 million, for a $41.1 million pick-up in 49 days.
-The Girl Who Believes in Miracles increased 9% from its' revised numbers last weekend to $600,000, for a $1.3 million gross in 10 days.
-The Courier was off 12% to $437,000, for a $4.9 million gross in 24 days.
-Bollywood release Vakeel Saab earned a solid $412,000 from 209 locations (averaging nearly $2,000 per-theater).
-Chaos Walking was off 28% to $265,000, for a $12.7 million pick-up in six weeks.
