Weekend Box Office Report: February 19-21, 2021

-Once again, it was The Croods: A New Age on top and continuing to play like a champion in this pandemic! Down 18% to $1.7 million, the animated sequel is at a strong $50.9 million in 13 weeks of release. While it might sound like it has a chance at getting to TENET's $58 million final gross stateside, there's a couple of major obstacles. One is its' DVD release on Tuesday. And second is strong competition from Tom and Jerry this Friday (and Raya and the Last Dragon next week). But, $155 million worldwide with some territories still to open is still pretty good.

-The Little Things took second, and was off 41% to $1.2 million, for an $11.8 million gross in 24 days. It seems to be on track to finish between $15 and $20 million stateside.

-Judas and the Black Messiah failed to show signs of strong word-of-mouth, as it plummeted 55% in its sophomore frame to $905,000. With $3.4 million in 10 days, it doesn't look like its' being seen as a big-screen event for moviegoers.

-Wonder Woman 1984 is stabilizing, off 29% to $805,000, for a $42.7 million pick-up in nine weeks. I don't think it will reach $50 million, and it's at $160 million worldwide (still pretty disappointing considering the high budget).

-The Marksman was off another 30% to $775,000, for an $11.5 million gross in six weeks.

-Oscar frontrunner Nomadland opened in seventh place with a disappointing $503,000 from 1,175 locations (well, that's what other sources are reporting - distributor Disney/Searchlight Pictures isn't reporting grosses). It averaged $428 per theater.

Elsewhere in the Top 10:
-Monster Hunter was off 25% to $510,000, for a $13.4 million pick-up in 10 weeks.
-Land was off 44% to $500,000, for a $1.6 million gross in 10 days.
-News of the World was off 35% to $245,000, for an $11.7 million pick-up in 9 weeks.
-The War with Grandpa spends a 20th weekend in the list(!), and inches up 17% to $224,000, for a $20.3 million pick-up so far.
