Weekend Box Office Report: February 12-14, 2021

-In a surprising turn of events, The Croods: A New Age returned to the #1 spot in its 12th weekend! That is a feat that no movie has done in the last 25 years (Frozen got the closest by being #1 in its seventh weekend in January 2014). Over the extended President's Day weekend, the animated hit earned $2.7 million, for a $48.9 million pick-up in 12 weeks. One more weekend until Tom and Jerry (and the film's DVD/Blu-ray release) will give it the push it needs to get over $50 million stateside.

-Judas and the Black Messiah opened as the next experiment for Warner Bros.' theaters/HBOMax day-and-date strategy, with decisively muted results. The acclaimed historical drama earned $2.4 million over the extended weekend ($1,271 per-venue average). That is in line with fellow Oscar contender, News of the World in terms of openings, however - and that one didn't debut on streaming the same weekend.

-The Little Things tied Judas for second place this weekend with another $2.4 million over the four-day stretch. That's a nice uptick from last weekend, as the Denzel Washington crime thriller is at $10.6 million in 18 days. Lack of competition for older adults should help it continue to play well into March.

-For the first time in its overall run, Wonder Woman 1984 saw an uptick. It pulled in $1.3 million over the extended holiday, for a still-dismal $41.8 million pick-up in eight weekends of release.

-The Marksman also played well this weekend, adding another $1.3 million over the extended stretch. It's at $10.6 million in one month of release as it looks to finish in line with Honest Thief.

-Opening in sixth place, Robin Wright directed and starred in the drama movie Land. It opened decently to the tune of $1.1 million Friday-Monday ($869 per-venue average).

Elsewhere in the Top 10...
-Monster Hunter added another $750,000, for a $12.8 million pick-up in nine weeks.
-News of the World added another $443,000, for a $11.4 million gross in eight weeks.
-The War with Grandpa in the Top 10 again in its' 19th weekend! Earning another $215,000 as it passed $20 million stateside.
-Promising Young Woman earning another $209,000, for a $4.9 million gross in eight weeks.
