Being Super Bowl Weekend, its going to be tough for me to predict the box office, as many films (especially male-led and family-led films) will be taking a tumble on Sunday for the big game.

Landing on a lot of people's Top 10-anticipated lists for 2016, Hail Ceasar! could prove to be a breakout. Its got a great cast (George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Jonah Hill and Scarlett Johannson) and talented directors (the Coen Brothers). Distributor Universal has marketed the film very well, and I think a mid-teens millions opening would be a great start, followed by strong holds through February.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has had decent buzz, but nothing to get too excited about. The book adaptation's primary audience, young adults, will be distracted by the big game Sunday. There's a chance it could pull a Warm Bodies and break out, but right now, that doesn't seem very likely. Look for an opening in line with previous horror flicks The Boy and The Forest, if not slightly lower.

Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Choice is getting the short end of the stick for a reason. It will hope to be a date night option despite opening on a weekend where many males will be distracted. It could rebound a bit over Valentine's Day, but that won't be easy. It should pull in some females, but not much more.

Kung Fu Panda 3 should remain on top for this weekend by default, and may or may not hold well dependent on how hard of a drop it has on Sunday. The Revenant should fare much better as an Oscar contender. Disney releases The Finest Hours and Star Wars: The Force Awakens may or may not hold well also dependent on drops on Sunday.

With the Winter Storm Jonas boost past, Ride Along 2, The Boy, Dirty Grandpa and The 5th Wave should all revert closer to normal as far as drops are concerned.
