Friday Box Office Report: The Help Set To Win Again, New Releases Come Close To Expectations....

Labor Day Weekend will be lucky to match last years' mediocre total....

The Help tops again, with $3.6 million, with just a 15% drop from last Friday.  The hugely successful period drama is expected to finish the 4-Day weekend with $15.5 million...

Shark Night 3-D and Apollo 18 tied for second place with $2.8 million apiece, but they both failed miserably with audiences, with distressing C and D CinemaScore grades.  The Debt, the other new release, was right on their heels with $2.6 million ($4.5 million since its' Wednesday start), and had a B grade from the website.  Look for The Debt to eventually jump over Shark Night and Apollo to take second place with a four-day gross to reach around $11 million, while the other two may reach $9-$10 million.

Among holdovers, Colombiana dropped 45% to $2 million, for what looks to be a $9 million 4-day weekend, the pic has been holding well due to overall good audience reception.  Rise of the Planet of the Apes followed with $1.8 million, and looks to reach a similar number in its' sixth full weekend.  Family flicks Spy Kids: All The Time In The World and The Smurfs look to see slight upticks over the four-day weekend compared to last weekend, as they grossed around $1 million apiece, and with families out in force, the 4-day tallies are expected to reach $6.5 million and $5 million, based on recent films' trajectories.  This will pull both films in a four-way tie for seventh with Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and Our Idiot Brother, which held modestly with $1.5 million and $1.4 million on Friday, but they only look to reach $6 million each for the four-day weekend.

Here is the projected Top 10 for the four-day weekend (updated):
