Weekend Box Office Predictions for December 6-8, 2019.

Overall business will likely be up from this same weekend last year, which had no new releases.

The only new release this weekend is Playmobil, which is being released by STX with little fanfare or buzz. Theaters are offering $5 tickets, which may sway some families, but they will also be distracted by Elsa and the gang. Also, its very rare for films opening the post-Thanksgiving weekend to really make an impact. Everyone is going with a $5 million opening, which is about what I see here.

Most holdovers (save for a few awards contenders and holiday flicks) will fall a bit down to earth this weekend. Here's the projected Top 10:

*Possible awards contender The Aeronauts will kick off its limited 2-week run on Friday. It could be a dark horse contender to sneak into the Top 10. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

#2: Knives Out ($14 million, -48%)
