Weekend Box Office Predictions for June 8-10, 2018

This weekend promises to be stronger than last, but its' still looking a little weak for the summer season. Overall business will once again trail this same weekend last year, when Wonder Woman bested the remake of The Mummy to stay #1 in its second weekend.

Here is the predicted Top 10:

#1: Ocean's Eight ($38 million)

I am sensing a debut similar to The Heat ($39 million) here. The spin-off to the Steven Soderbergh Oceans franchise does sport an all-women principal cast, and some strong buzz. Reviews are solid (72% on Rotten Tomatoes), while there hasn't been many legitimate options for women this summer (Book Club was more for older women, while Adrift was more for date night crowds).

#2: Solo: A Star Wars Story ($14.5 million, -51%)

While a lack of male-driven competition will allow Solo to hold better than last week, a lack of real excitement for the flick doesn't portend to a strong hold here.

#3: Deadpool 2 ($13 million, -43%)

Look for the R-rated sequel to continue leveling off at an OK rate.

#4: Hereditary ($11 million)

The horror flick has earned rave reception from critics (98% on Rotten Tomatoes) and has been marketed very strong. While many are expecting a debut under $10 million, I'm thinking this could even go higher than this number.

#5: Avengers: Infinity War ($7 million, -34%)

A lack of competition once again should benefit this blockbuster, giving it a seventh-straight week in the Top 5.

#6: Hotel Artemis ($6.5 million)

There's been a strong marketing campaign and some awareness for this crime thriller, while reviews are mixed (59% on Rotten Tomatoes). I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up a little higher, but right now, buzz seems to be fairly muted.

The Rest of the Top 10...

#7: Adrift ($5.5 million, -52%)
#8: Book Club ($4.5 million, -36%)
#9: Upgrade ($3 million, -36%)
#10: Life of the Party ($2 million, -43%)
