My busy summer continues, so I accidentally skipped this week's predictions. But, I can talk about something. DC Comics' ambitious slate coming up, and their anticipated superhero team-up is not risking the competition.
DC Comics and Warner Bros. reserved dates between 2016 and 2020, releasing two movies a year ending in Spring 2020. This is very ambitious (especially considering those years will have two or three a year from Marvel, and Sinister Six/X-Men added to it), and it shows how literally crowded the comic book adaptation field is now.
So, what could the next six years hold for the popular comic book giant? Well, I think its safe to assume a Justice League movie releasing at least by then. Also, as what many have speculated, we might get a Wonder Woman movie, a Shazam movie, perhaps a Man of Steel sequel and more from Batman as well. Sandman, Aquaman and even Green Lantern (again) all also stand chances.
The start of all this is Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was moved up six weeks to March 25, 2016. Its original May 6 release date was then challenged by Marvel's Captain America 3, which was dated the same day. One studio was going to flinch, so its not entirely surprising this happened. No one wants the films to cannibalize each others' business.
So, is Marvel and DC's competitive plans exciting to you? Or is it too much?
