Sorry there was no box office report last week guys. I was out of town on a mission trip, and was unable to update the site.
--F9: The Fast Saga had the biggest pandemic opening to date with a strong $70 million (impressive $16,760 per-venue average). That's ahead of spin-off Hobbs and Shaw from 2019 before COVID even started, which has to be seen as a major win on all counts. Of course, F9 is playing very strong overseas with $335 million picked up overseas to date, and seems headed for at least $550-600 million worldwide by the time it's finished.
--A Quiet Place: Part II continues to show some legs, off 32% to $6.2 million in its fifth weekend. One month into its' run, the sequel is at $136.4 million domestically, with two weeks left until it hits Paramount+. I think it might have enough gas left in the tank to get above $150 million stateside (the original earned $188 million in the U.S.), and its about to pass $250 million worldwide.
--The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard didn't quite hold up well in its sophomore frame, off 57% to $4.85 million in third place after opening in first last week. The action comedy is at $25.8 million in 12 days.
--Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway held well in its third frame, off 22% to $4.77 million, for a $28.8 million pick-up in 17 days, on its way to maybe $40 million if Boss Baby 2 doesn't steal its' thunder. However, the sequel is playing well overseas, where it's passed $100 million worldwide.
--Cruella remained in fifth place, and it's showing some late-in-the-game stability. Off 21% to $3.8 million, the Disney villain origin story is at a solid $71.4 million pick-up in one month, and $185 million worldwide.
Here's a look at the rest of the Top 10:
-The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was down 40% to $3 million, for a solid $59.2 million pick-up in 24 days. It's earned a solid $160 million worldwide so far.
-In the Heights was down 47% to $2.2 million in its third frame, for a disappointing $24.2 million gross in 17 days.
-Spirit: Untamed was off 31% to $1.1 million in its fourth frame, for a $15.9 million pick-up in 24 days.
-Nobody earned $560,000 from 115 locations (primarily drive-in double-features with F9), for a $26.7 million gross in 14 weeks of release.
-12 Mighty Orphans was off 39% to $555,000 in its third weekend, for a $2.3 million pick-up in 17 days.
